Steve leads the band, plays solo pieces as well as duets with other band members, and also arranges music. In addition he leads small group classes leading to grade examinations. He started learning the accordion at the age of nine, taking lessons at the Leicester School of Music where, under the tutorship of Maureen Gadd and the principal, Francis Wright, he achieved GradeV in both the Theory of Music and Accordion Playing after only two-and- half years of study. This enabled him to become a full member of the British College of Accordionists Orchestra and, under the guidance of Rosemary Wright, to progress to Grade V1I in Accordion Playing and Grade VI in the Theory of Music in the British College of Accordionists' examinations, finally achieving Grade VIII in Duet Playing. Although career and family commitments took precedence, Stephen continued playing with the newly named Leiceter Accordion Orchestra and took part in many festivals and competitions. After moving to Devon in 1994, he pursued his musical interest by playing solos and joining the Barnstaple Male Voice Choir, to which he became Deputy Musical Director. But he could never have expected to find the succesful application of his accordion skills which came about in 2003 when, after being contacted by two keen, local accordionists, an opportunity arose to form his own band. Since then, both the club and band have flourished and, as they became better known, gained many engagement within the local region. Steve's solo is Monsieur Roudoudou by Claude Thomain.
